ABLE Bridges: Inclusion for Everyone

Our Story

Our story began with a simple  family trip to the local grocery store after recently moving from one city to another in Arkansas. This trip revealed a gap. When we arrived, we realized there wasn't an accessibility cart available to fit our son's needs. We were told one may be ordered, but only if someone asked corporate.

So we did.

But that moment stayed with us. How many families needed the same support but didn't know they could request it? How many simply went without?

That realization became the foundation of ABLE Bridges. What started as one request has grown into a mission: to make accessibility visible, expected, and available, so no one has to ask just to participate in everyday life.

Get Involved

ABLE Bridges is a grassroots nonprofit, and our work begins by listening. We're actively looking for  those everyday moments where accessibility is missing for everyone.

If you've noticed a barrier in any community space, we want to hear from you and get your ideas!

We are currently working with grocery stores and local organizations to expand access to inclusive experiences for all Arkansans, but this is just the beginning. Real change starts with real stories!

Your voice helps us identify needs, advocate for solutions, and build bridges where they're missing.

Our Mission

ABLE Bridges is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to identifying and closing accessibility gaps in everyday spaces so that all individuals and their families can participate fully and with dignity.

The founder of ABLE Bridges, wife and mother of 2, spent 15 years as an educator, before becoming a full-time caregiver to her son, who was diagnosed with trisomy 10, monosomy 2 shortly before his first birthday. This diagnosis resulted in global developmental delays. Through her and her family's  personal journey, she experienced firsthand the everyday barriers that can make simple, meaningful moments feel out of reach for families navigating a disability.

Motivated by both her professional background and lived experience, she created ABLE Bridges to help close those gaps. Her vision is to build a more inclusive community where individuals with disabilities and their families can fully participate in ordinary, everyday activities with dignity, support, and connection.

Through ABLE Bridges, she is committed to advocating, bridge-building, lifting, and empowering others, ensuring that no family feels excluded from the moments that matter most. Elizabeth currently resides in Hot Springs, AR.

She is a devoted wife and mother of four, several of whom live with hidden disabilities, giving her a deeply personal understanding of the challenges families face in navigating everyday environments. As a special education teacher based in Jonesboro, AR, she has witnessed firsthand how a lack of inclusion can create barriers not only for individuals, but for entire families.

Her passion for advocacy and inclusion led her to be the very first to say yes when invited to join the board of ABLE Bridges. She recognized immediately the importance of creating spaces where all individuals are seen, supported, and able to fully participate in daily life.

She holds a Master's degree in Social Work as well as Special Education, bringing both professional expertise and lived experience to her role. Her unique perspective allows her to approach accessibility with compassion, insight, and a strong commitment to meaningful change.

He is a dedicated Jonesboro, AR community leader, advocate, and activist with a deep personal commitment to inclusion and dignity for all individuals, regardless of ability or special needs. As someone actively involved in raising a child with autism, he brings both lived experience and compassion to his work, shaping his understanding of the real challenges families face every day.

His advocacy is rooted in the belief that every person deserves to be fully included in their community, supported in their differences, and given equal opportunity to thrive. This passion has guided his service and leadership across local initiatives focused on equality for all.

He is currently a candidate for AR State Representative, where he hopes to expand his work on a broader level by advancing policies that promote inclusion, strengthen community support systems, and protect the rights and dignity of all people. His vision is a community where differences are not barriers, but valued aspects of a more compassionate and connected society.
